This tool has been developped by DrPeter (Tomas Pettersson). The guy did this soft, which uses dynamic tesselation (you can try to google that) to provide a flexible and intuitive sculpting tool, alone, and it is simply amazing. Amazing enough to attract the attention of Pixologic (the makers of Zbrush, you may google that too). Indeed, Sculptris is now owned by Pixologic and DrPeter won a job there. That's what people usually call, a success story (but with less scandals and drug addictions)
